Yantacaw Brook Park is the municipal park located in Montclair, New Jersey. The park consists of approximately 11.5 acres (47,000 m2) of land. The park contains a small pond and a stream that feeds into it. The pond is surrounded by trees and low hills. There are paths and benches throughout the park. The Yantacaw Brook feeds the pond and then continues into the Third River through Bloomfield, Nutley, and Belleville where it finally meets the Passaic River. Both Yantacaw Brook and the Third River were referred to by the Lenni-Lenape people as Yantokah or Yantacaw.
Location: Yantacaw Brook Park is located in a residential area in the northeastern section of Montclair. The park is located one block away from Brookdale Park, an Essex County Park at its Northern end and it borders the Northeast Elementary School. The park is a fifteen minute walk from the Upper Montclair commercial area. (All above information was taken from Wikipedia) Historical Note: -1927 site of the Upper Montclair Golf Club (Built in 1912) -Yantacaw Pond---This was the feature of the par 3, 109-yard Lake Hole, No. 16 -It may be seen from Yantacaw at the end of Bellegrove Road in Upper Montclair off Bellevue Avenue. The No. 16 tee was on the other side of the pond at the top of the hill. This area may also be viewed from the intersection of Club Road and Yantacaw Brook Road. -Location of the 1912 Clubhouse: this site was at the top of the hill near the cul-de-sac at the relocated eastern end of Club Road. -Location of No. 17 tee: This site was up the steep slope at the northeast corner of the Club Road/Yantacaw Brook Road intersection. This par 4, 450-yard hole played in an easterly direction toward Broad Street.
